Police have arrested five more people for beating and burning Abu Yunus Md Sahidunnabi Jewel (50) from Burimari in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat on charges of insulting religion. They were arrested from Burimari on Tuesday night. A total of 21 people, including mosque attendants, were arrested in three cases. Lalmonirhat DB Police OC Omar Farooq confirmed the information.
The arrested are Motahar Hossain (18), Hashem Ali (52), Laju (35), Rabiul Islam (40), and Ariful Islam Arif (38). Among them Motahar and Hashem Ali have been arrested for assaulting police and Laju, Rabiul and Arif have been arrested for vandalizing the Burimari Union Parishad, police sources said.
