Australian Steven Jeffres fired a six-under 65 on Thursday, accelerating impressively away from the field on the opening day of OneAsia’s Kolon Korea Open.
The 39-year-old carded eight birdies, four on each nine, and two bogeys to leave the field trailing in his wake. He birdied four of his last seven holes.
“The goal is to win. You can’t get too far ahead of yourself. It is a good start today but there is a long way to go,” he said. “I did my goals for the end of the year and what I want to achieve and that involves winning again either on OneAsia or in Australia or on the European Tour.”
Last year he recorded the biggest victory of his career by claiming the Fiji International on OneAsia and he feels that victory has given him greater confidence to go on and win again.
