Police detains boy with yaba over buying of sofa set

Sub Inspector Rafiqul Islam, Khajura police camp in-Charge under Bagharpara police station in Jashore allegedly detained a youth and showed him arrested along with some Yaba pills over a feud following buying a sofa set.
The allegation was made at a press conference held at Jashore Press Club on Sunday noon by the victim’s family members.
The victim is Habibur Rahman, 23, son of Shahidul Islam of Khajura Bazar under Bagharpara upazila.
Faria Sultana Maina, youngest sister of the of the victim read out the written statement on behalf of her father Shahidul Islam in presence of her mother Parul Begum, father, brothers Mahbub and Jisan Ahmed.
In the press conference, the victim’s father alleged that he and his family members run a small restaurant on the footpath to run his family at Khajura Bazar. Rafiqul Islam, camp in-charge, Khajura police camp detained his son Habibur Rahman and showed his arrested along with 50 pieces of Yaba pills following a feud over buying of an old sofa set on October 15. ‘He was arrested by ASI Hazrat Ali being ordered by the camp in-charge,’ he added,’ It was done because I bought an old sofa set from one Liton of nearby area, which the camp in-charge wanted to buy.’
Mainul Haque, superintendent of Jashore police, admitted that he got such allegation against the police man. ‘It is being investigated’, he added.
The camp in-charge Rafiqul Islam and Bagharpara police station officer in-charge Jasim Uddin, however, denied the allegation.
