Staff Reporter : A leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal [JCD] was killed in a “gunfight” in the city in the early hours of Tuesday. The victim was identified as Nuruzzaman Johnny, 30. He was JCD general secretary of Khilgaon unit, family sources said. Md Alauddin, Sub-Inspector of Khilgaon Police Station said, “Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch of Ramna Zone conducted a raid in Jorapukur field area of Tilpapara under Khilgaon police station at around 3:15am. A shootout took place in the area.” “Being informed, the police recovered the bullet-ridden body of Johnny. He succumbed to his wounds after being rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital,” Md Alauddin said. Police said the body bore several marks of bullet wounds in the chest. Meanwhile, the detectives have claimed that the Jonny was involved in the petrol bomb attack on a police bus at Shahbagh area in the city on Sunday evening where about 12 policemen were injured.
