Following the UP election campaign one of the legs of one Mehedi Hasan Prince (26), Joint Secretary General, Jatiyabadi Chatrdal Dal, Khontakata Union under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district was broken by the opponents at Khontakata Bazar on Friday noon,
. Prince was working in favour of Matiar Rahman, a BNP nominated candidate for the UP election. It is reported that on the day some 11/12 local BCL (Bangladesh Chatra League) workers called out Prince from his residence and took him to Khontakata bazar where they beat him mercilessly. As a result, he was fatally injured and one of his legs was broken.
He was at first admitted to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex. But considering the gravity of the injuries he was shifted from there to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Md. Shah Alam Mia, Officer-In-charge of Sharankhola PS told the newsmen, he heard the matter and legal action will be taken against the miscreants if complaint is lodged with the PS.
Fire set on AL candidate’s election office in Morrelganj
The election office of a Awami League candidate of Jewdhara Union under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district was ransacked and set on fire in the early hours of Thursday.
It is disclosed by Awami League candidate Jahangir Alam Badsha that on at 2 am on Thursday, some unidentified miscreants ransacked his election office near at Bahijor Bridge of the union and fire set on it.
Another report states that on the same night at 11 pm some one opened gun fire on the dwelling house belonging to Faruk Mia, the seating UP member of Hoglapasha Union under the same Upazila and who is contesting for the same post as an Awami League candidate, it is alleged.
Md. Rashedul Alam, Officer-in-charge of Morrelganj PS told the newsmen, AL election campaigning office in Jewdhara Union is correct, but the news of gun fire on the house of AL contesting candidate in Hoglapasha Union is baseless. Some miscreants brick bated the house at night.
