JCD GS Habib on 3-day remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Sunday) placed Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) general secretary Habibur Rashid Habib on a three-day remand in a case filed with Shahbagh Police Station of the city on the charges of cocktail explosion, arson and vandalism in Dhaka University’s Arts Building.
Magistrate Atiqul Haque of the CMM Court granted the remand after Shahbagh Police Station Sub-Inspector and also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, Md Azim
produced Habib to the court with a ten-day remand pleas.  
The BNP student wing’s leader Habib was arrested from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on early Saturday.
JCD Office Secretary Nazmul Hasan told newsmen that Habib was on his way to US, when the police arrested him at the airport.
“Police arrested Habib from the airport at around 4.30 am. He was taken to the airport police station. We came to know that he was later handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of Police,” Hasan added.
