UNB, Dhaka :
Nearly six months after his arrest, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) general secretary Habibur Rashid Habib was released from jail on bail on Monday.
Habib walked out of Dhaka Central Jail at around 11am as his release order reached the prison,
JCD acting president Bazlul Karim Chowdhury Abed told UNB. A good number of leaders and activists of the BNP student body received their general secretary at the jail gate with bouquets.
Later, he went to BNP’s Nayapaltan central office escorted by the JCD men.
Detective Branch of police arrested the Habib from the city’s Shantinagar area on November 17 last.
Habib was released as he was granted bails by the High Court in all the case filed against him with different police stations in the city on charges of vandalising and torching vehicles and obstructing police from discharging their duties during the BNP-led 18-party alliance’s movement before the January 5 national election.
