JCD activist killed, one held in Sylhet

An activist of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was stabbed to death in Khuliapara residential area of the city on Monday night over previous enmity.
The victim was identified as Kamal Ahmed, 32, son of late Suruj Ali under Khuliapara Nilima-28 residential area in Sylhet.
Witnesses and victim’s cousin Abdur Rob told that Tajul Islam, husband of former ward councilor of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Shahana Begum Shanu, and their son Rayhan Ahmed stabbed Kamal with sharp weapons in front of Khuliapara residential area while Kamal was returning home after Esha prayer at around 8.30pm Monday. They left Kamal critically injured nearby Lamabazar VIP Road.
Later, the injured Kamal was sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital where the on duty doctors declared him dead.
Abdur Rob said that Shahana Begum’s another son Tajel, 16, was murdered around six months ago and Kamal Ahmed might have been killed for his alleged involvement in this connection.
Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge (Investigation) Sylhet Kotwali police station, acknowledged the matter and told that Shahana’s son Rezaul, 12, was arrested for investigation in this connection.
