Japanese assistance to build five medical college hospitals sought

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim, now visiting Japan, sought assistance in building five government medical college hospitals in Japanese standard. The minister made the urge on Monday while holding meeting with different government and private sector dignitaries in Japan.
Presently construction works of five new medical college hospitals are progressing in Tangail, Jamalpur, Sirajganj, Manikganj and Rangamati. The health minister held meetings with Japan State Minister for Health, Labour and Social Welfare Keiko Nagaoka, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Minoru Kiuchi, Vice-President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Toshiyuki Kuroyanagi, Director General of Commerce and Information Policy Bureau Masaki Ishikawa and representatives of world renowned 11 Japanese hospital equipment manufacturing companies. Terming Japan as one of the trusted friends and a major development partner of Bangladesh, the minister urged Japan to increase its technical cooperation to Bangladesh for helping the country in developing a modern healthcare system.
