Japan updates security advisory for its nationals

UNB, Dhaka :The Japanese Embassy in Dhaka on Sunday updated its security advisory for its nationals who are living in Bangladesh and wish to travel Bangladesh encouraging them to exercise high level of security awareness.The Embassy posted the updated security note on its official Facebook page in Japanese language, including international media’s claim of IS link with the killing of Japanese national in Rangpur.Asked about the gist of the message in English, Spokesperson at the Japanese Embassy inDhaka Takeshi Matsunaga told UNB that they added some additional information for its citizens and encouraged them to exercise high level security awareness.”That is to inform our Japanese nationals about the incident. We also early yesterday morning added some additional information about the issuance of warning,” he said. About international media’s claim of IS link in the killing, the Spokesperson said, “That is the matter which is now under investigation by the law enforcement agencies of Bangladesh.”Japanese national, Hoshi Kunio, 66, was shot to death by unidentified assailants in Rangpur on Saturday just five days after an Italian aid worker was murdered in the capital’s diplomatic zone.He was gunned down in the morning when he was going in a rickshaw to his grass farm at Alutari in Kaunia upazila, Rangpur police said.
