Japan keen to invest in Bamboo cultivation

Japan has made a proposal to invest in bamboo cultivation in Bangladesh using modern technology.
They want to cultivate bamboo in the areas of Karnaphuli Paper Mills (KPM) to boost its production.
Former Japan Foreign Minister Tetsuro Yano, also the President of Association of African Economy and Development Japan ECA Committee, today placed the proposal when he met Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu at his office.
Welcoming the Japanese proposal, the Industries Minister said the government will consider any kind of investment proposal positively.
Apart from the bamboo cultivation, he requested the former Japanese minister to come up with a comprehensive proposal for the modernization of KPM to enhance the paper production.
They also discussed possible Japanese investment to local industrial sectors.
Industries Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, First Secretary to Japanese Embassy in Dhaka Kawakami Takayuki, Angelica Japan Bangladesh Ltd President N. Ahsan Willfam and its Bangladesh Country Director Major (Rtd.) Manzoor and Coldwell Ltd President Khairul Majid Mahmood were present during the meeting.
