Janmastami celebrated

The Hindu community of the port city observed the religious festival of Janmastami(birthday anniversary of Sree Krishna) amid religious fervour yesterday.
 Colourful procession carrying different banners, festoon and replica of goddess Sree Krishna brought out in the city road at morning hours defying the dazzling and inclement weather. Janmastami Upjapon Parishad brought out colourful rally from Anderkilla crossing .
 Male, females, girls, boys irrespective of ages joined the procession with different kinds of bands and musical soiree. Former Mayor and President of city AL ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury inaugurated the Janmastami procession by releasing balloons and pigeons as chief guest .
Among others, Police commissioner of Chittagong Md.Shafiqul Islam and the general secretary of city AL AZM Nasiruddin were present in the inauguration function of the procession. In his inaugural speech, Mohiuddin Chowdhury said Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony and every citizens have equal religious rights .
 He said communal harmony was existed earlier which will also continue in future also .
President of Janmastami Parishad Dilip Das presided over the inaugural function. Among others Police commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam, city AL secretary AJM Nasiruddin, general secretary of south district AL Mofizur Rahman, former general secretary of Janmastami Parishad Advocate chandan Talukder , Ashutush Das, Saibal Das and Nilu Nag spoke on the occasion.
 The procession terminated at JM Sen Hall premises through parading from Anderkilla, Laldighi, Kotwali, Newmarket, Nandankanan, Cheragi Pahar .
Chittagong Metro police has taken tight security measures during the procession to avoid any sorts of unwanted nuisances, sources said.
