Janmashtami celebrated

Janmashtami was observed amidst festivity in Bogra on Saturday.
 To celebrate the occasion, the Puja Udjapan Parishad, Bogra District Unit committee organised various programmes on the occassions.
The day-long programme was inaugurated with the lighting of a Mangal Pradip at Chelopara Temple early on Saturday. Later a colourful procession paraded the main streets of the district headquarters.
Over thousands of devotees of the Hindu community participated in a Janmashtami rally, inaugurated by the deputy commissioner Md. Asraf Uddin, Superintendent of Bogra Police (SP) Md. Asaduzzaman, District Awami League president Momotaj Uddin.  
A discussion meeting was organized at Aminul Haque Auditorium in Bogra Zilla School. Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Khorshed Alom was chaired on the meeting while Bogra Deputy Commissioner Asraf Uddin addressed as Chief Guest, Superintendent of Police Md. Asaduzzaman, Bogra District Awami League President Momotaj Uddin, President of Bogra District Unit Puja Udjapan Parishad Dilip Deb, Secretary of the organization Sagar Kumar Roy, President of the district unit of Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Aikko Parishad Dr. NC Baroi, Secretary of the organization Niranjan Kumar, Organizing Secretary Bidhan Chandra Sing and Adv Uzzal Prosad Kollan, Trusty of Hindu Kollan Trust of the district unit spoke in the discussion meeting.
Sylhet Correspondent adds: Janmashtami, the celebration of the birthday of Lord Krishna and one of the biggest religious festivals of the Hindus, was celebrated in all the 12 upazilas in the district Saturday with due religious fervour and enthusiasm.
According to Hindu belief Lord Krishna came on the earth to destroy evil and establish peace. His preaching in Bhagvad Geeta is still guiding light for the followers of the Hindu religion.
