Jamaat-e-Islami has announced that it will stage demonstration across the country today (Saturday) in protest against the government to execute the death penalty of war crimes convict Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojaheed.
Jamaat Acting Ameer Maqbul Ahmad announced the programme in a press statement on Friday afternoon. He called upon the leaders and workers of his party to make the programme a success.
Claiming that his party’s secretary general Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojaheed is an honest and qualified politician, Maqbul Ahmad
said that Mojaheed performed duty as Social Welfare Minister with honesty and reputation. He is an innocent person and he was not involved in any crime against humanity during the Liberation War of 1971 or any other time, he also claimed.
He alleged that the government has taken all the preparation to kill the innocent leader in the name of trial of war criminals. Mojaheed has been denied justice. He had been convicted in false and fabricated cases, he added.
Maqbul Ahmad also said that Mojaheed is the worst victim of a deep-rooted conspiracy, as the government is trying to kill the Jamaat leaders with an aim to make leadership vacuum in the party.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami arranged a Doa Mahfil in several places of the country for Mojaheed. Ramna Thana unit of the party arranged a special doa mahfil. Jamaat leaders at the mahfil demanded release of their leader stopping hanging him.
