Jamaat-Shibir men bring out processions in capital, 7 arrested

Leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir on Wednesday morning brought out several processions across the capital Dhaka in support of their shutdown and tried to picketing. Jamaat and police sources said the Jamaat-Shibir men tried to set fire on some goods that was laid on the footpath at around 7:30am in Chinese area at Jatrabari. They also tried to block the highway there. But sensing the presence of law enforcers they left the spot immediately. But no one was arrested. Meanwhile, Police members of Mirpur Model Police Station have arrested at least seven Chhatra Shibir men after raiding a student mass in Monipur area in capital’s Mirpur. Police said they have the secret information that Shibir men gathered there in a bid to carry out subversive activities for making unrest. –risingbd.com
