Nilphamari Correspondent : A total budget of Tk 45 crore, 52 lakh, 19 thousand and 674 for 2016-2017 fiscal year of Jaldhaka municipality was announced in an open gathering at municipality auditorium at non of yesterday. The budget, which is a surplus budget, was framed without imposing any new tax upon the citizens. This year’s budget, the biggest ever in size since establishment of the local body institution in 2003, put special emphasis on infrastructure development like building new sewerage (drainage) network and maintenance of the old drains for making way to exit of waste and stagnant water. It also focused on making the municipality area a clean and tidy town by quick removing of garbage. Promoting of education, health, sanitation and water supply etc were also shown as top priority. Mayor of Jaldhaka municipality Fahmid Faisal Comet announced the budget in presence of a large number of leading citizens of the area. In the budget document, an amount of Tk 2 crore, 52 lakh, 19 thousand and 674 was supposed to be collected from revenue head, and the major amount was to be available through grants and donation of govt. and donar agencies like Jaica, Asian development bank (ADB) under head of various development projects. Secretary of Jaldhaka municipality Ashrafuzzaman, assistant engineer AKM Tofazzal Hossen, Nobideb project team leader Abdus Sattar were present in the session as honourable guests. A large number of journalists including Mahbubur Rahman Moni, general secretary of local press club and other dignitaries were attended the ceremony.
