Narayanganj City Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy has resigned her post in order to compete again in the coming city election for the mayor post scheduled to be held on December 22. It was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The maiden election to NCC was held on October 30, 2011. Dr Selina Hayat Ivy was elected the country’s first female city mayor. She was also the elected chairman of the
now defunct Narayanganj Municipality.
In a press briefing after the resignation, Ivy said: I tried my best in past five years to develop Narayanganj city. More development works, including the beautification of Baburail’s canal, are underway.
