Chittagong Bureau :
The proposed Chittasgong Medical University will be built on the hilly terrain beside the existing CMCH in Panchalaish thana area.
Housing and Public Works Minister Mosharraf Hossain said this while on a visit on Friday to choose a likely site for the university. The minister went on an inspection of the hill tract next to the CMC staff quarters and the principal’s bungalow.
“There is a lot of land here. The university will look visually attractive if located on the hilltop. It will be the first in Bangladesh,” he said at the end of the inspection. The university buildings would be built by keeping the local environment and trees unharmed, Hossain added.
The CMC owns 78 acres, Bangladesh Medical Association’s (BMA) Chittagong unit President Mujibul Haque Khan, who accompanied the minister during the inspection, told the media.
“Fifteen acres of empty land have been found on the campus. A beautifully planned university can be built there,” he said. BMA chief feels the setting up of a university on the college campus would benefit both students and patients.
