Staff Reporter :Another Italian citizen was shot at in front of the BRTC Bus Depot at Mirzapur of Dinajpur town on Wednesday morning.The victim Piero Samio, 50, has been admitted to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital. He has been performing as a physician at Suihari Catholic Mission Church for 10 years.The members of the law enforcing agencies have detained 11 persons to interrogate them in this connection. Dinajpur Police Super Ruhul Amin said, “The assailants managed to flee the scene after shooting Piero Samio from his back when he was going to hospital riding on a bicycle. He was rescued while lying in a pool of blood on the ground.”The locals informed the police immediately after the incident and brought him to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. Later, he was shifted to the Dhaka Combined Military Hospital in a critical condition. “We recovered peel of bullet, a sun-glass, musk” the SP said. The detained people are being interrogated in this connection, he noted. Police are trying to arrest the miscreants, the police official added.Earlier on October 5, Luk Sarker, 52, a priest of a local Baptist Church, was attacked at his home in Ishwardi School Para in Pabna district.Another Italian citizen Cesare Tavella was shot dead in Dhaka’s Gulshan area on September 28.
