The noted benevolent to poor and human friendly person of Chittagong Islam Khan sacrificed his whole life for the well being of the people irrespective of caste and creed.
His pioneering role was to do something for the welfare of the common people and the hapless .
Specifically Islam Khan in his life time established two Musafir Khana at Makkah and Madina aimed at easing the accommodation facilities to the pilgrims during hajj periods . In home also, he sets a number of examples of human being activities for the needy peoples.The then only posh residential hotel of the port city – Hotel Miska also carries the memory of Islam Khan who was the founder of it.
This was disclosed at the remembrance meeting of late Islam Khan at Miska Hotel premises by the speakers attended the meeting . The speakers said Islam Khan hails from a respectable Muslim family of Chittagong and was a man polite, amiable , well behaved and poors friendly.
Mentionable that Hotel Miska also carries the memories of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman where Bangabandhu usually stayed in this hotel when came over Chittagong. The speakers recollected the memories of Bangabandhu who convened a number of party meetings in the hotel lobby during erstwhile Pak regime.
Hajj Pilgrims Kaylan Parishad arranged the remembrance meeting duly presided by its President Ahmedul Islam Chowdhury .Former vice chancellor of Chittagong University Prof Muhammad Ali graced the occasion as chief guest. Prof. Dr. Mofizur Rahman of Dhaka university and NATAB President Morshedul Alam Kaderi participated the reminiscence as discussants. Secretary General of HKP Principal Dr.Abdul Karim delivered address of welcome in the meeting.
President of Bangladesh Dokan Malik Samity Alhaj Dr.Saleh Ahmed Suleman conducted the programme as moderator. Among others, former Deputy Secretary Abu Muhammad Nurul Islam, FF commander Shahabuddin , business personality Saifuddin Ahmed, Prof. Kazi Shahdat Hossain, senior Vice President of BDMS, chittagong Haji Shahabuddin, AdV Anowarul Islam Chowdhury, Abdul Bari Chowdhury , Shafiqur Rahman, Noor Muhammad Chairman, Dr.Abu Zafar spoke on the occasion.
Prof.Dr. Md. Ibrahim Khan expressed gratitude on behalf of the demise family. Shah Moulana Abdul Halim conducted munajat in the reminiscence , HKP sources said.
