Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has alleged that Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and America’s CIA are in constant touch with anti-India militants, a section of whom are still using Bangladesh to operate.
Sarkar after unfurling the Indian national flag on the occasion of India’s 68th Independence Day was addressing a gathering in the Assam Rifles parade ground in capital Agartala.
“We are aware that Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and American CIA are helping the militants to destabilise India’s economy and unity.
Why are you people falling into their trap? Try to come out of it,” said Chief Minister Sarkar.
“Insurgency has weakened but not uprooted. Still militants have their camps in Bangladesh and they are trying to disturb our peace and development,” he said.
He appealed to the militants to shun the path of violence and return to the mainstream.
“Militants are still kidnapping people and on this auspicious day, I appeal to them to leave this wrong path and come back to normal life and start life afresh.
“Many have surrendered and we helped them to make a new beginning,” added Sarkar.
He said, recently he had a meeting with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during which he had stressed on improving bilateral relation with Bangladesh.
