Thousands of people had to use the Ishwardi Railway Footover Bridge with extreme risk every day. Most of the stair steps of this century-old footover bridge are broken. Walking over the steps of the broken stairs has become extremely dangerous. Construction of another new bridge next to the footover bridge has not been completed in a year and a half. As a result, the old bridge has in great risk.
On the surface, it was seen that the passengers are moving very slowly on the stairs leading from the railway ticket counter to the foot overbridge. The concrete steps of the stairs broke and the rod came out. Looking at the steps of the stairs, many people get scared. The sick and the elderly and children do not want to move up the stairs. Every day through this footover bridge hundreds of school and college students, traders, passengers, hundreds of thousands of people move from the western area to the eastern area.

The footover bridge was constructed in 1923 to allow railway passengers to travel to the station platform and to move people from the eastern and western parts of the city. Passengers have to cross this footover bridge to the platform after buying the ticket from the railway ticket counter.
Subir Biswas, a resident of Skulpara area of Paschimpar, said that this footover bridge has created a bridge between the people of the western and eastern parts of the city. The wooden floor of this bridge, which was built a long time ago, the steps of the stairs have been changed many times and concreted at the last stage. The concrete steps are broken. It is urgent to change them. Major accidents can happen at any moment.
Mahfuzur Rahman Shipon said, the steps of the stairs were broken and the rod came out. Stair treads need to be replaced quickly to avoid major accidents.
Train passenger Mozammel said, I travel by train every week. Passengers are walking at risk as the steps of the stairs are broken. The concerned authorities are pretending not to see it. Accidents like falling down stairs can happen at any moment.
Ishwardi Junction Station Superintendent (SS) Mohibul Islam said that traveling on the stairs of the bridge is very dangerous. The concerned Divisional Bridge Engineer has been informed for speedy change of steps of stairs.
Paksey Divisional Bridge Engineer Najib Kawshar said, I know about the problem of stairs of footover bridge.
The site has been inspected. The stair steps will be changed soon. In the meantime, regarding the progress of construction of new footover bridge, he said, the work is ongoing. Hopefully the construction work will be completed within the next four months.
