Since the beginning of Sravan, the second month of monsoon, farmers have been busy planting aman saplings after getting rain water. This time, due to low rainfall throughout the month of Ashar, the planting of paddy seedlings in Ishwardi was delayed due to lack of water. Due to frequent rains in Shravan, farmers prepare seedbeds and cultivate paddy without delay.
After the busyness of Eid, planting of rice saplings has already started in almost all areas of the upazila. There is no need to irrigate the arable land due to high rainfall. Taking advantage of this opportunity, farmers are quickly planting aman saplings. According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, a target has been set to prepare seedbeds in 160 hectares of land in Ishwardi during this year’s transplanting season. The seedbed has already been prepared.
According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, the target has been set for the cultivation of aman paddy in 4,265 hectares of land in Ishwardi during the current aman season. Paddy yield has been good in last aman season. Farmers have also got a fair price for paddy. So the farmers are happy and have started cultivating aman paddy with golden dream.
Meanwhile, under the project of preservation and distribution of improved quality paddy, wheat and jute seeds at the farmer level through modern technology, fertilizers, seeds and pesticides are being supplied and supervised to 15 farmers on 5 acres of land in each union of the upazila. On Thursday morning, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Zahid Hasan Hirok was planting paddy seedlings in the land of farmer Antur in Gopalpur village of Sandra Union of the upazila.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Abdul Latif said the farmers here are very experienced in paddy cultivation. So after getting rain water, he has started cultivating aman paddy as usual. Planting of aman paddy saplings has already started in full swing.
