The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Sunday granted bail to Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, mother-in-law of Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman, in a graft case filed against her for not submitting her wealth statement.
Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the Court passed the order after Iqbal Mand Banu surrendered to the court with bail plea.
On April 12, the same court issued warrant to arrest Iqbal Mand Banu. The case docket says, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against her on the charge of not submitting
wealth statement to the ACC.
The court took cognizance of the charge-sheet of the case and issued the warrant, said ACC lawyer Mir Ahmed Ali. The ACC filed the case with Ramna Police Station in the city against Iqbal Mand Banu on January 30, 2014.
The ACC source says, the case was filed after Iqbal Mand Bau failed to submit her wealth statement to the ACC. They submitted the charge-sheet of the case to the court on January 19, last year.
