The administrative investigation committee on the Narayanganj seven murders is not going to India to question prime suspect Nur Hossain since it learned that he will be brought back under “special arrangements”.
Committee’s Member Secretary Abul Kashem Mohiuddin said on Thursday the committee wanted to submit its final report to the court by Sep 9 and would not wait past the date to interrogate Nur Hossain.
Committee convener Shahjahan Ali Molla said the home ministry and the foreign ministry had informed them that Nur Hossain would be brought back soon under “special arrangements”.
He could not say what these arrangements would be.
Mohiuddin said the government was putting more importance on bringing Nur Hossain back than sending anyone to interrogate him.
He also said interrogating Hossain did not fall under the purview of the committee’s investigation.
The committee was formed on May 7 on High Court orders to look into allegations of law-enforcing personnel being involved in the high-profile crime.
