Inu for coop to ensure formalin free fruits, politics

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Friday urged journalists to play a positive role to keep fruits and politics free from formalin.
“Like foods and fruits, politics has become tainted. Militancy, corruption and communalism are the key elements responsible for polluting the country’s politics,” he said while inaugurating a ‘Fruit Festival’ at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) in the city.
Hasanul Haq Inu, also the President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), said that the formalin-mixed food items cause health hazards while polluted politics endangers democracy. The drive against formalin-tainted
food items would continue, he said. He lauded journalist’s different pragmatic steps against anti- democratic, communal and autocratic forces, in different times. The minister also sought cooperation of all patriotic forces especially media, to build a non-communal democratic society.
DRU organized the festival where 20 kinds of fruits, including mango, jackfruit, guava, watermelon and lichi were served. DRU President Shahed Cowdhury chaired the function. Among others, fruit festival convener Ashraful Islam, member-secretary Parveen Sultana Kakon, DRU vice-president Rafiqul Islam Azad, organising secretary Mursalin Nomani, training and research secretary Sajjad Hossain, publicity secretary Sheikh Mohammad Jamal Hossain, sports secretary Badrul Alam Khokon and social welfare affairs secretary Jamiul Ahsan Shipu spoke on the occasion.
