Intra-party feud in Ctg AL intensifying

The intra-party disputes hampering the activi ities of Chittagong City Awami League now. The President and General Secretary Chittagong City Awami League are alleging that the lawmakers and ministers who are also the leaders of city committee are not participating in any political activities.
They also alleged that Minister Nurul Isam BSc, former Minister Dr Afsarul Amin MP, M A Latif MP did not participate in at any meetings of the committee since the current city committee was formed.
According to sources, after the rivalry of two top leaders of Chittagong City Awami League, Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) and President of Chittagong City Awami League A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury and the incumbent mayor and General Secretary of Chittagong City Awami League A J M Nasir Uddin, they are criticiizing the lawmakers and ministers.
 As a result, the activists of Awami League are becoming frustrated over the lawmakers, minister and also other leaders. Addressing the meeting of the founding anniversary of the party held recently, A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury said party nominated our leaders for national polls. They elected lawmakers. Some of our leaders are ministers now. But, they are not working for party. They are inactive in party activities.” “If they do not participate in political activities of the committee, they should resign from the party posts,” he added.
He said, “I will request the Prime Minister and party chief not to give nominations to any inactive leaders. Only who are dedicated for party and nation and country, can get nomination in next national polls.”
On the other hand, addressing the rally of the death anniversary of Late awami League leader Jahur ahamod Chowdhury on Saturday, the incumbent Mayor and General Secretary of Chittagong City Awami League A J M Nasir Uddin called upon the inactive leaders of the city Awami League including the lawmakers and ministers to resign from the party posts if they do not want to participate in party activities.
 He said, the lawmakers and ministers are not active in the committee and never participate in any party activities after being elected or becoming ministers. He further said the city committee is preparing a list of inactive leaders of the committee. “We will send the list to the high-ups and the committee will take action against them soon.” He also called upon all to be united and participate in party activities to win the next national polls.
It may be mentioned that several issues including the establishment of supremacy at Chittagong port, increased taxes and construction of swimming pool at outer stadium are the prime causes of rivalry between two top leaders of Chittagong City Awami League.
