Int’l workshop on ICT leadership begins in city

A two-day long international workshop on ICT leadership in higher education organized jointly by Bangladesh Open University (BOU) and Commonwealth of Learning Canada, Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia began at BRAC Center in the city on Thursday.
Education Secretary, M. Nazrul Islam Khan inaugurated the workshop and said that this workshop will sensitize the leader of the public universities about the importance of use and integration of ICT in higher education. He also expressed his desire that this event will discuss the issues related to use of ICTs in teaching and higher education and to develop strategic plan and portrait a roadmap for ICT application in Bangladesh.
He further added this high level perticipants of the workshop will formulate a guideline of ICT approach in higher education with the help of regional experiences.
Vice-Chancellor Bangladesh Open University Professor Dr. M A Mannan who presided over the workshop as a co-coordinator and a facilitator said that the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia (CEMCA) is encouraging developing and fostering the exchange and sharing of educational media techniques and resources in Asian countries of the Commonwealth. BOU is facilitating and manage the activities of this workshop to promote ICT activities in the university level.
A total of 35 Participants took part in the workshop. The Participants are the Vice-Chancellors of Public Universities in the country, representatives from Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh and Six Vice-Chancellors of India.
