Int’l Women’s Day observed

International Women’s Day 2016 was observed in Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh district on Tuesday demanding equal rights, safe mobility for women’s, and women’s safety in all levels of the society. Government and non-government organization chalked out various programmes including rallies, discussions and cultural programmes to mark the day with this year’s slogan ‘Pledge for Parity ‘.
A rally was brought out at 10:30 am from the Upazila Parishad that ended at the same place. Women from different professionals took part at the rally along with colourful festoon, banner and play cards.
 Later, a discussion was held at Upazila Public Hall with Marjina Akter, UNO of Gouripur upazila in the chair. Freedom Fighter Alhajj Dr. Capt. (Retd.) Mujibur Rahman Fakir MP, former State Minister for Health & Family Welfare was present as chief guest. The discussion was addressed among others by Sharmin Shahajadi Upazila Women Affairs Officer, Md Sadikur Rahman Upazila Agriculture Officer, Md. Jahangir Hossain Upazila SecondaryEducation Officer, Nur Mohammad Upazila Primary Education Officer, Principal Ruhul Amin of Gouripur Mahila College, Md Abdul Waheed Clinic Manager of NGO Health Service Delivery Project, Mashiur Rahman Kawser of Gouripur Press Club.
 Narsingdi Correspondent reports: A discussion meeting on the occasion of the International Women’s Day 2016 jointly organised by Narsingdi District Administration and Department of Women Affairs office was held at Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner Narsingdi Abu Hena Morshed Zaman addressed the discussion as chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of the district Khandaker Nural Hoque in the chair
District women affairs officer Sayida Masuda Islam presented the well come speech.
Among others former Principal of Narsingdi Women’s Government College Prof Kalam Mahamud, Principal of Zonal Cooperative Training Institute Narsingdi, Hori Das Thakur, District Primary Education Officer Nargis Shajada Sultana District Education Officer Kazi Manwar Hossain, President of Zilla Nari Unnyan Forum Advocate Ommah Salma Mayah, Executive Director of Gram Bikash Songstha Masuda Faruke Rotna, District Correspondent of BSS Mohammad Abu Taher , District representative of BRAC Mijanur Rahman and Executive Director of PAPRI, Abu Based. spoke on the occasion.

A discusson on Right Dignity and Equel held at Local Art Council Hall on Tuesday morning.
Dilara Begum Asma M.P was attended as chief guest while Deputy Commissioner GSM Zafarullah in the chair.
It was addressed among others by Additional Police Super Mustakin Hossain, Sadar Upazila Vice-chairman Kamrun-nahar Luna, Women Leader Bilkis Begum, Saiful Quddess of POPi, Kaleda Islam, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Principal Gulshan Ara and District Women Affeirs Officer Mamunur Rashid.
A colourfull rally was brought out in the town led by D.C GSM Zafarullah marking the day.
