The Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day was observed in Kishoreganj on Monday with due respect and solemnity.
Marking the day, District Administration Police, RAB, and different socio-cultural organizations chalked out various programmes in line of the national programme.
The day’s programme was formally started at one minute past after the zero hour on the day with placing of floral wreaths at the altar of Gurudhayal Shaheed Minar by Rejowan Ahmed Tofiq MP, Dr.Syed Zakia Noor lipi MP, DC Mohammad Shamim Alam, Sr. Police Super (SP) Mashrukur Rahman Khaled Bpm (Bar), Zilla Parishad chairman Advocate Zillur Rahman, Civil Surgeon (CS)Dr.Saiful Islam and Mayor Pervez Miah, placed floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.
Later, leaders of different political parties including rulling Awami League (AL) and it’s associate organizations, BNP, district level officers and leaders of different socio-cultural organizations and people from all walks of life placed wreaths there.
As part of the program, the national flag was hoisted atop of all the public and private buildings in the district at the sun-rising period.
An art, poetry recitation and hand writing competition for the school children was held in the morning on the Kishoreganj Shishu academy premises under the auspices of the Shishu academy.
A virtual platform discussion meeting on “the significance of language movement” was held at local collectorate conference room on Monday morning. DC Mohammad Shamim Alam attended as chief guest while ADC(General) Nazmul Islam Sarker presided over.
It was addressed among others by Sr.SP Mashrukur Rahman Khaled Bpm (Bar) as special guest, Civil surgeon( CS) dr.Saiful Islam, District Press Club president Mostafa Kamal, Saiful Haque Mollah Dulu, CAB president Alam Sarowar Tito, Mohila Awami League district secretary Bilkis Begum, District Awami League Religious Secretary Masum Khan and Ganatantree party presidium member Advocate Bhupendra Bhowmick. Awami League (AL) arranged a discussion meeting at its district office on Monday afternoon. District President advocate Kamrul Ahasan Shajahan presided over.It was addressed among others by district general secretary advocate M. A Afzol, Vice president advocate Bijoy Shankor Roy, Sr.Joint secretary and PP Advocate Shah Azizul Haque, Ex.Mayor Nurul Islam and Syed Ashfaqul Islam Tito.
Staff Reporter Rangpur reports: Rangpur has celebrated the Int’l Mother Language Day with due dignity. Language martyrs were honored by laying wreaths at Rangpur Central Shaheed Minar on Monday. Various social, cultural, professional and voluntary organizations paid homage to the martyrs one by one. Thousands of people laid wreaths at the central Shaheed Minar following government guidelines and hygiene rules. At the end of the wreath-laying, a minute’s silence was observed paying homage to the language martyrs.
From 12 minutes to one o’clock in the night, Bahasainik family, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan, City Mayor Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa, Rangpur Range DIG of Police Devdas Bhattacharya, Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Asib Ahsan, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, District Superintendent of Police, Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, District Awami League President Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and others. Muktijoddha Sangsad, Awami League and its affiliated organizations, Jatiya Party, Jasad, Basad (Marxist) and Jatiya Sramik League also paid tributes along with Zila Parishad Chairman Shafia Khanam. Rangpur Press Club, Bangladesh Photo Journalists’ Association Rangpur, Reporters’ Club, Reporters’ Unity, Bangladesh Press Club, Video Journalists Association, City Press Club, Bangladesh Scouts, Rangpur District Rover Scouts, BNP, Jatiya Party, various social and cultural organizations paid homage to the martyrs.
At the same time, teachers, students and officials of all educational institutions including Begum Rokeya University, Carmichael College, Rangpur Government College, Government Begum Rokeya College, Radhakrishnapur Degree College, Rangpur District School, and Government Girls High School also observed International Mother Language Day.
BSS from Khulna reports: People from all walks of life on Monday observed “Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day in the city peacefully. To mark the day, all government administrations, Socio-Cultural, Political and Professional bodies and educational institutions organised different programmes maintaining proper health guidelines amid the ongoing pandemic situation.
This year, at least five delegates from each organisation went to the Shaheed Hadis Park and a maximum of two people placed floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar due to the coronavirus restriction set up by the government.
Muktijoddha Sangsad City and District Unit Command Council at first paid tributes to the Language Movement Martyrs at one minute past after the midnight last night at the Shaheed Minar of City’s Shaheed Hadis Park, followed by State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnuzan Sufian, Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque and Zila Parishad Chairman and district Awami League President Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid.
Later, Khulna Divisional Commissioner, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Khulna Range Police, Khulna Police Superintendent placed floral wreaths there.
 DC Md Helal Hossain along with officials of the district and upazila administrations also place floral wreaths there followed by the other government and non-government departments and organisations.
BSS from Jamalpur adds: The Language Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day was observed in the district in a befitting manner on Monday.
The day’s programme includes – placing wreath at Shaheed Minar, hoisting national flag at half mast, discussion meeting, documentary film display and painting, poem recitation, hand writing competitions for children and essay, music competition for students.
The day began with paying homage at central Shaheed Minar in the town.
Organising Secretary of Awami League Mirza Azam, MP, placed floral wreath at the Shaheed Minar here at one minute past midnight.
Later, Engineer Mozaffar Hossain, MP, District Administration, Police Administration, Zila Parishad, Jamalpur municipality, Freedom fighters, Civil Surgeon Office, Upazila Parishad, District Bar Association, political parties, Ansar, Educational Institutes, Jamalpur Press club and social and cultural organisations also placed wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.
Special prayers were held in various mosques seeking divine blessings and eternal peace of the departed souls of the language martyrs.
