Int’l confce on universal health coverage ends

A two-day international conference on universal health coverage concluded in the Sasakawa Auditorium of ICDDR,B at Mohakhali in the capital on Sunday.
Public Health Foundation, Bangladesh (PHFB) Organized the programme marking its six founding anniversary.
Public health experts, physicians, nutritionists and researchers from home and abroad took part in the conference.
The theme of the conference was ‘Universal Health Coverage: The key to achieve SDGs’.
Researchers presented their research findings at
different sessions. Different issues such as environmental health, communicable and non-communicable diseases, mother and child health, nutrition, dental and occupational health came up for discussion.
National professor and eminent gynaecologist Professor Dr. Shaila Khatun attended the programme as the chief guest, while Professor Dr. Fatema Ashraf, Chairman of PHFB, was in the chair.
Professor M Muzaherul Haque, founding Chairman of PHFB, Dr. Samir Kumar Saha, Executive Director of PHFB, representatives of WHO and UNFPA.
Professor Dr. Bayezid Khurshid Riyaz, Director of National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM), Dr. John David Clemens, Executive Director of ICDDR,B, Professor Dr. Faridul Alam, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Health Sciences, among others, spoke.
