Int’l Confce on Social Unrest begins at IU

A two day- long seventh International Consortium for Social Development Asia-Pacific (ICSDAP) Biennial Conference on ‘Social unrest, peace and development’ began at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday.
 ICSDAP and IU Social Welfare department jointly organised the conference at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium of the university in association with Singapore University of Social Sciences and Thammasat Universirt around 9:30 am.
IU vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashisd Askari addressed the inaugural session of the conference as the chief guest while ICSDAP president and also Professor of Social Work department of Charles Sturt University, Australia, Prof Manohar Pawar was delivered keynote speech on the occasion.
Royal University of Dhaka vice-chancellor Prof Profulla C. Sarker and IU treasure Prof Dr M Selim Toha spoke here as special guests with IU pro vice-chancellor, also the chairman of Social Welfare department of the university Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman in the chair.
ICSD chairman and principle of Institute of Rural Reconstruction of Visva-Bharati Sriniketan, Prof Asok Kumar Sarkar and conference coordinator Prof Dr Mamunur Rahman delivered welcome speech at the event
Around four hundred delegations and one hundred scholars and researchers from eight country of the world participated here conducted by Dr Mostafizur Rahman of university Folklore Studies department.
While addressing at the programme the speakers discussed on total of thirteen contemporary issues including poverty, population problem, socio-economic discrimination, religious confliction, climate change, global warming, gender discrimination and health hazard.
