Int’l Confce on Revisiting IR begins at DU

A two-day long international conference on “Revisiting International Relations (IR): Critical Reflections on 100 Years” began yesterday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU). DU International Relations Department has organized this conference.
 Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the inaugural function while Foreign Secretary Ambassador Masud Bin Momen addressed it as chief guest. Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of DU Prof. Dr. Sadeka Halim addressed the function as special guest. Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed of DU International Relations Department presented key-note address. Chairman of the Department of International Relations Prof. Muhammad Ruhul Amin delivered welcome speech while Convener of the conference Prof. Dr. Amena Mohsin gave vote of thanks.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for revisiting the glorious history of Dhaka University to take forward the nation. He said the students and teachers of the university had played vital roles in different democratic movements including Language Movement in 1952 and Liberation War in 1971. He called upon the young generation to play an effective role in strengthening regional cooperation and establishing peace and harmony in the society.
 Foreign Secretary Ambassador Masud Bin Momen said the world is now facing various challenges including climate change, global warming, air pollution human trafficking, inequality and gender discrimination.
He urged all concerned to come forward to resolve these burning problems.

It may be mentioned that academicians, researchers and diplomats from different countries are participating in the conference.
