Khagrachhari Correspondent :
Internal feud is rising between senior and junior Awami League leaders over the reshuffling of Khagrachhari Hill District Council (KHDC).
In the last couple of party meetings, the leaders were engaged in altercation, even scuffle among themselves over the issue while junior leader started boycotting senior leaders. General Secretary of Khagrachhari district AL Md Jahidul Alam said KHDC is now running with only three members out of five. As a result, activities of some 22 government offices, those were handed over to KHDC as per CHT accord are being greatly hampered. Considering the ongoing problems and aiming to engage more AL men in development activities the government is deciding to restructure KHDC with 11members council instead of 5 men council on March 10, this year.
“The government is also verifying the legal sides of the 11 men council and hoping to form a new council within shortest possible time,” Jahidul Alam added.
We hope to evaluate dedicated party leaders, especially those, who had been repressed, oppressed and had faced hundred false cases during BNP-led four party regimes, he added.
