Inter-ministerial meeting held for two int’l events

An inter-ministerial meeting was held on Tuesday at conference room of Youth and Sports Ministry in a bid to have successfully hosting Suzuki SAFF Championship and AFC U-16 Women’s championship-2019 qualifiers to be held next month in the city.
Youth and Sports Secretary Mohammad Abdullah presided over the meeting. The Suzuki SAFF Championship is scheduled to be held on September 4-15 at country’s premier venue Bangabandhu National Stadium. Apart from host Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka national football teams will take part in the championship. On the other hand, The AFC U-16 Women’s championship-2019 qualifiers will be held on September 15-23 at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium.
Four countries – Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Lebanon and host Bangladesh – will compete in the championship. In the meeting, cooperation was sought to the representatives of concern ministries, associations and divisions to make the events a success. The concern representatives assured the secretary to do their duty properly. The meeting also emphasized to ensure the security of local and foreign players, officials and invited guests during their stay in Bangladesh. Youth and Sports Additional Secretaries ABM Ruhul Azad and Anwarul Islam Sarkar, National Sports Council Secretary Masud Karim, Bangladesh Football Federation General Secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag and high officials of concern ministry, divisions and associations were present in the meeting.
