Injured Shaon dies at DMCH

A youth who was injured critically during the clash between the police and the activists of opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Wednesday died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Thursday evening. The victim is Md Shaon, 21, son of Md Sohorab Ali of Murma village under Mirkadim in Munshiganj. He was a three-wheeler driver by profession.
‘Shaon died at the hospital at about 8:30pm today,’ said DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bachchu Mia on Thursday night. Officials said that Shaon had severe injuries in his head. Munshiganj BNP leaders said that Shaon was their activist but police said they were not certain about his political identity.
At least 50 people, including several police officials, were injured as police locked in a clash with the BNP at Muktarpur of Munshiganj on Wednesday afternoon.
Menawhile, police in special drives detained at least 25 leaders and activists of BNP from different areas of the district since Wednesday afternoon.
Confirming the matter, additional superintendent of Munshiganj police Suman Dev said that 25 people have been arrested in connection with the disorderly gathering at Muktarpur without permission.
