Info Minister lauds BMCCI for branding Bangladesh

The Board of Directors of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) led by its President Syed Moazzam Hossain called on Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, MP at his secretariat office on Wednesday.
BMCCI President Syed Moazzam Hossain proposed for a comprehensive information policy and to play catalytic role in disseminating information among the people through print and electronic media for sustainable development. He also urged the Minister to take necessary initiatives to branding Bangladesh. He informed that BMCCI liaiseon with both the countries’ concerned authorities to sign Free Trade Agreement with Malaysia as soon as possible.
Minister for Information Dr. Hasan Mahmud, MP said policy reforms, policy simplification, need based policy formation, reduce outdated polices are necessary for conducive business environment. RMG is our biggest export earner, no doubt, but we need to encourage diversification of products in line with finding other potential export items. He suggested to frame out a sector-specific policy demand. He also said that Bangladesh will graduate to a developing country by 2024, and after the graduation we will lose various duty and quota facilities in terms of export. He said we need to be prepared for that time. We need to work on reducing trade gap with other countries. But, first of all we need to enhance our capacity, he said. But to compete in the international market, he urged the businessmen to produce quality products.
BMCCI Vice Presidents Raquib Mohammad Fakhrul (Rocky), and Syed Almas Kabir, Hon. Secretary General Shabbir Ahmed Khan, Directors Md. Showkat Ali, Syed Moinuddin Ahmed, Jamilur Rahman, and Secretary Hasanur Rahman Chowdhury were also present during the meeting.
