Senior treasury bench members on Sunday demanded further investigation into the information gathering on Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in the US to kidnap and harm him and his family members, and take legal steps against the
BNP high command promptly. They also suggested Deputy Speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Mia, who was presiding over the session, give necessary directives to the Law Ministry in this regard.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed initiated the debate taking the floor on a point of order. Awami League senior leader Suranjit Sengupta, Industries Minister Amir Hossain, Amu, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Abdul Matin Khasru, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam and JSD MP Mainuddin Khan Badal took part in the debate.
At one stage, the Chair of the House said there should be a further investigation into the matter.
He said Joy brought many good news for Bangladesh through his activities.
Suranjit Sengupta said not the Law Ministry but the Home Ministry would have to be directed for further investigation in this regard.
Since the BNP high command’s name is mentioned, steps should be taken as all know the BNP high command means Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman, he said.
The AL leader said Joy was supposed to be kidnapped for killing and such many incidents take place in the USA in exchange for money.
