Infections cross 1 lakh mark

38 more die, 3,803 test positive in last 24 hrs

The number of coronavirus infections in Bangladesh crossed the 100,000-mark on Thursday with 3,803 new cases in last 24 hours, DGHS reported on Thursday.
Besides, 38 people have died of coronavirus infections, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed it.
“With the new fatalities, the death toll now stands at 1,343 and the death rate is 1.31 percent,” Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, said in a press briefing in the capital.
She said that 16,259 samples were tested across the country in the same span.
The detection rate of new patients has been recorded 23.39 percent, the DGHS data shows.
Dr. Sultana said that 1,975 infected persons have recovered and released from different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours.
The total number of recoveries has reached 40,164 and the current recovery rate is 39.26 percent and the mortality rate is 1.31 percent in the country, she said.
The DGHS official said also that total 674 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, she added.
She said that among the deceased, 31 were males and seven females.
Of them, 14 were from Dhaka, 18 from Chattogram, two from Khulna, one from Rajshahi, one from Barishal, one from Mymensingh and another was from Rangpur division, she said.
Dr. Sultana said also that of them, one was under 10 years old, two were between 21-30 years old, five between 31-40, three within 41-50, six within 51-60, 14 between 61-70, five between 71-80 years old and the other two were between 81-90 years old.
She said that 24 people died in hospitals and 14 at homes.
Bangladesh detected its first Covid-19 patients on March 8 and registered first death of coronavirus on March 18.
