Industrialist, Alhaj Nurul Islam from Adhunagar, Lohagara, Chattogram is the owner of 41 industrial establishments is a social worker also. He feels the plight of poor, helpless and needy people, his door is always open for them. Construction of Nurul Islam school, college, madrasa, mosque from own funds, construction of public and private institutions and financial support, construction of houses for relatives and helpless under rehabilitation project, monthly salary allowance in various educational institutions, marriage of daughters of families with daughters, unemployed in the area He conducted many development activities in the area including providing jobs to the youth in their industrial establishments, providing financial support, providing medical services, giving monthly allowances to the needy elderly in the area, distributing food items and relief to the victims of floods in the area, sending sons of poor families abroad at their own expense.
As far as known, the institutions established by him include Lohagara Battali Central Jame Masjid, Lohagara Upazila Mosque Imam Sahib’s House, Adhunagar Islamia Kamil Madrasa, Adhunagar Islamia Orphanage, Adhunagar Islamia Lillah Boarding, Adhunagar Islamia Madrasa Hostel, Adhunagar Islamia Baitul Falah Jame Masjid, Adhunagar. High Minar of Baitul Falah Mosque, Adhunagar Khanhat Bazar Named Madrasah Market, Adhunagar Khanhat Bazar Jame Masjid, Noor Mohammad Sikdar Para Jame Masjid, Sardani Para Jame Masjid. Dozens of Forkaniya madrasas in Adhunagar and 35 Maktabs in different areas of Adhunagar and Chunti, providing free books and educational materials to these Maktabs and Madrasahs and providing monthly salary to the teaching staff. He is working to establish Adhunagar Mahila Madrasa south of Adhunagar Kamil Madrasa at a cost of around Rs.5 crore. He has built the government hospital at his own expense.
He constructed about 25 houses in Adhunagar and Chunati Union of Lohagara, Adhunagar High School building and new college building, Adhunagar Akhtaria Madrasa building. 2000 taka monthly allowance among 120 needy families and old people in the area. Financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students of the union and Eid and festival allowance to 5000 needy families and sacrificial cow for every village. In 2016, he distributed 50 sacks of rice among the poor and helpless in the flood affected area in Adhunagar Union.
Not only Adhunagar, he bought the building and furniture of Barahatia Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa (RA) madrasa. Madrasa teachers and employees are given monthly salary. He gave building and furniture to Kool Pagli School in Barahatia. According to locals, he owed some money to a person in Aziznagar. In return, he paid the person thousands of rupees and gave him a furnished house. Satkaniya built the munshikhana of the court, Kachari bought office furniture. He paid regular monthly salary to 41 industrial establishments established by himself. Artex and Jabir-Jobair Industries Limited, which he founded, were awarded by the Prime Minister as the best industrial companies. Nurul Islam gave double festival allowance to thousands of workers, employees and officials employed in all institutions including industrial institutions funded by Nurul Islam. Besides, he keeps 2 ambulances ready 24 hours a day and night to serve the people of Adhunagar Lohagara. He has purchased land with his own funds and given it as waqf to many unnamed institutions. This person who is very religious, prays five times with the congregation. People from all walks of life always pray for him.
