A two-day commerce secretary level meeting between Bangladesh and India will begin in the city today to take forward further the bilateral trade between the two close-door neighbours.
Commerce secretary of Bangladesh Shubhashis Basu will lead the 16-memeber delegation in the talks.
Indian delegation led by Indian commerce secretary Rita Teaotia has already reached Dhaka to join the meeting, said a press release of the Bangladesh commerce ministry here today.
A number of bilateral trade related issues will come up for discussion during the meeting, said the release.
The issues include development of infrastructure in the boarder customs stations and increasing facilities there, reviewing activities of border haats and setting up more haats, recognising the BSTI certificate in India, anti-dumping duty imposed by India on some Bangladesh products, exporting Bangladesh products to third country by using Indian airports, removing export-import related disputes, expansion of goods transportation by roads and waterways and Indian proposal to export sugar to Bangladesh. The last bilateral meeting of the Bangladesh-India commerce secretary took place in New Delhi on November 15-16, 2016.
