Sexual assault case against Siraj: Indictment hearing deferred

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal of Feni on Wednesday adjourned the indictment hearing of suspended Principal SM Siraj Ud Doula in the case filed over the sexual harassment of Sonagazi madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi till August 5.
Judge M Mamunur Rashid of the court passed the order yesterday.
Earlier, on July 9, the tribunal accepted the charge
sheet and fixed July 17 for hearing on charge framing in the case. The charge sheet was submitted to Feni’s Court of Senior Judicial Magistrate M Zakir Hossain on July 3.
Siraj Ud Doula, the suspended principal of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa is the lone accused in the case.
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Inspector Md Shah Alam, who is also the Investigation Officer of the case, said Siraj Ud Doula called Nusrat in his office room on March 27 and sexually harassed her.
Police, later detained the then Principal following a case filed by Nusrat’s mother Shirin Akhter.
The PBI was been given charge to investigate the matter. On completion of the investigation after 96 days- on May 29, the PBI submitted the chargesheet of the case.
