A four-member delegation led by Professor Dr A Ramanan of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India on Tuesday called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman at the latter’s office.
Other members of the delegation were Prof. Naveen Garg, Shouribrata Chatterjee and Somnath Baidya Roy.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr. Md. Hasanuzzaman and Biological Sciences Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. M Imdadul Hoque were present on this occasion.
During the meeting at the latter’s office of the university, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs between the University of Dhaka and IIT Delhi.
They also discussed the possibilities of introducing PhD programme under the joint supervision of these two academic institutions.
The delegates expressed their willingness to provide fellowship to DU students for higher studies at Indian Institute of Technology.
Exchanges of teachers and students between the two institutions were also discussed at the meeting. They agreed to sign a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard soon.
