Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel seized huge quantity of Indian sarees, three pieces, medicine, imitation jewelleries and phensidyl worth Tk 1 cr 5 thousand from Gatipara and Putkhali border area in Benapole on Friday night.
But they could not arrest any smugglers at the time.
Lieutenant Colonel Salim Reja , Commanding Officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion said on a tipped off the BGB men seized Huge indian saree, Three pics, Medicine, imitation jewelary worth Tk. 1 crore 5 thousand. The smugglers fled the scene after seeing the presence of the BGB.
The seized goods deposit to Benapole customs god won. A case was filed in this connection.
Female dead body recovered : Police recovered a female dead body from Munshikhanpur village in Monirampur Upazila of Jashore district on yesterday early morning.
The deceased was identified as Shahida Begum 55 wife of late Moksed Ali of Munshikhanpur village.
The deceased son Abdur Razzak Khan filed a case with Monirampur police station. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The deceased son said like other days on monday night, my mother went to bed to sleep. On the morning of 5 o’clock one of my uncle screamed after seeing my mother in a rope strangled with a tree beside the house. Then we go and bring the body down. he added.
Monirampur Police Station Sub-Inspector Prashant Das said, we went to the spot and found out that the body was on the knee. Moreover, the neckline of the body seemed suspicious.
The body was sent to the morgue for confirmation that the woman was killed or not. When the autopsy report is received, the real reason will be known.
