7 more die, 414 test positive

Seven patients died and 414 persons have been infected with coronavirus in the last 24 hours, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said.
“The death toll reached 127 with the new cases, while the total number of infected now stands at 4,186,” the minister said in a press briefing on Thursday in Dhaka.
Zahid Maleque said that 16 more have recovered during the same period, taking the total number of recoveries to 108.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Additional Director General Nasima Sultana said that 3,416 people were tested in the past 24 hours across the country.
Bangladesh on March 8 confirmed the first COVID-19 case and the first death from the viral disease on March 18.
Dr.Sultana said that on Wednesday COVID-10 spread to 58 districts.
She said that one month ago on March 23, the number of infected people was only six in the country, but the daily infections now rose to 414 on Thursday.
‘It’s a big rise of infections. This rate of infections shows how grave the situation is now,’ she said.
Among the infected people, 85 per cent are from Dhaka division – 45 per cent in the capital and 39 per cent is from other districts in the Dhaka division.
Narayanganj, Gazipur, Kishoreganj and Narsingdi are the worst affected districts after the capital city, Dr. Sultana said.
She said also that Rajarbagh, Mohammadpur, Lalbagh, Jatrabari, Bangshal, Chwak Bazar, Mitford, Uttara, Tejgaon and Mohakhali are among the areas where density of affected people is high.
All the seven new deaths in the past 24 hours occurred in the capital and five of them are males, she said.
The Additional Director General said that four of them were aged above 60, two in their fifties and one in forties.
Dr. Sultana said that young people were being affected more in the country as the most affected age group is 21-30, accounting 24 per cent of the total infections.
Dr. Sultana said that the next affected age group is people in their thirties having 22 per cent of infections, people in their forties with 18 per cent infections, and people in their fifties with 15 per cent of total infections.
‘We will urge the young people to stay home to keep the infections away,’ Dr. Sultana said.
