A young Bangladeshi man was shot to death by members of Indian Khasia community group near Sylhet border in Khanaighat upazila on Saturday morning.
The victim was identified as Mamun Uddin, 28, son of Jalal Uddin of Sonarkhwar village in the upazila.
Local Union Parishad Chairman Dr Fayaz Ahmed said Mamun went to India illegally on Friday night. A group of Khasia community shot Mamun dead at Dana bordering area while he was bringing cattle at around 9:00 am.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tania Sultana and Abdul Ahad, officer-in-charge of Khanaighat Police Station, confirmed the matter to reporters.
