Indian HC distributes scholarships among children of FFs in Barisal

Indian High Commission on Saturday afternoon in Barisal distributed student-scholarships stressing on strengthening cultural-educational cooperation and ties.
Scholarships worth Tk.10.2 lakhs for 60 children of freedom fighters learning on higher secondary and graduation level were distributed in the programme.
The scholarship distribution ceremony held at Ashwini Kumar Hall of the city was presided over by Devdas Samaddar, divisional president, Bangladesh-Bharat Moitri Samity (Bangladesh-India Friendship Association).
Amir Hossain Amu, industry minister, Advocate Talukdar Md. Yunus, AL lawmaker and district AL secretary, Freedom Fighter Sheikh Qutubuddin, Mohiuddin Manik Bir Protik, Hosneara Begum, additional district magistrate, Abdur Rouf, deputy commissioner Barisal Metropolitan Police, Siddhartha Chattopadhyay, first secretary, (press, information and culture) and director Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre of the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh, addressed the programme. High level officials of district and police administration, freedom fighter family members present in the scholarship distribution ceremony.
Industry minister Amu called the youths and new generation to resist the communal and anti-liberation forces who want to transform the country as a militant non-functional state by creating lawlessness in the name of politics.
The industry minister as chief guest of the programme also said Bangladesh and India are two branches of a same tree to produce same fruit and both of them have to be nourished properly to get better result.
The other speakers said Bangladesh-India relationship is inseparable in course of history.
They hoped that it would be continued to be spread more, especially it would be more strengthen in the fields of education and research.
They called for more broad level cooperation between Bangladesh and India, especially in field of research and studies.
Mentionable the amount of these 60 scholarships were Tk 10 thousand each for 17 HSC level and Tk. 24 thousand each for 43 Graduate level students.
Indian High Commission in Bangladesh this year distributed scholarships worth Tk. 2.42 core among 1,300 students in the country.
