Vehicular noise, bottle necks, incessant honks and Bangladesh traffic that, according to India skipper MS Dhoni, keeps getting worse are some of the reasons that are making India’s stay at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Mirpur an unpleasant one.
The hotel where the Indian team has been put up is the same where Prime Minister Narendra Modi stayed during his recent Bangladesh visit. However, it’s not to the liking of the Men in Blue.
“We are definitely not happy with the location of our hotel. The area is very congested. We conveyed this at the time of recce only,” Team Manager Biswarup Dey told Cricketnext.
Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel is located in a congested area, where the roads facing the facility are packed with traffic all the time. Dey said that they had requested for a hotel in an area called Gulshan, but it didn’t happen.
“We wanted a hotel in Gulshan area, which is not this congested. Here the players are not able to step out of the hotel,” Dey said.
However, it will be difficult for the Bangladesh Cricket Board to switch hotels with the ODI series beginning Thursday. Also, there are security concerns following a nationwide shutdown on Wednesday called by an Islamist political party.
