India-Bangladesh Cultural Festival 2019

n the occasion of International Mother Language Day and observance of Golden Jubilee of Nazrul Academy the Academy organised a week-long India-Bangladesh Cultural Festival 2019 recently.
Under the banner of Beleghata Suroloke, artistes of Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan, Bolpur and Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata and noted Nazrul artistes of Bangladesh and Nazrul Academy also took part in the festival.
A six-member voice artistes led by editor of Kolkata’s Atmojon publication and noted Nazrul researcher Abdul Qayyum also took part in the festival.  
Legendary artiste and writer Mustafa Zaman Abbasi, noted Nazrul artiste Ferdous Ara and granddaughter of Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Khilkhil Kazi were present as guests at the cultural evening of the festival held at Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium, Nazrul Academy in the capital’s Belalabad in Mogbazar area on February 14.
The inaugural ceremony was held at Dagonbhuiyan branch of Nazrul Academy in Feni where Indian and Bangladeshi cultural troupes performed on February 15. Later, the next day’s event was held in Dhaka.
On February 16, Ekushey Award winner language veteran Prof Mohammad Abdul Gafur was present as invited guest while on February 17, wife of PalliGeeti legend Abdul Alim Begum Jamila Alim was present on the occasion.
Noted Lalon singer Farida Parveen was present as invited guest and also rendered songs on February 18’s event.
It is noted that from India Ajoy Kumar Ghosh, (team leader), Dr Nandita Basu Sorbadhikari (Professor of Visva Bharati), Indraneel Biswas, Bashobi Bagchi (Professor), Ruma Chakraborty (folk singer), Indrakkhi Ghosh Basu (Professor), Krishna Boiddya (Nazrul artiste), Tanushree Das (Tagore artiste) and Bonani Rudro took part in the festival. n
