Chuadanga-2 seat: Independent candidate Nur Hakim’s signatories threatened not to appear in EC appeal hearing

Md Nur Hakim, independent candidate for Chuadanga-2 Constituency alleged that the local administration has been influenced by the ruling party men and his nomination was cancelled unfairly .
He said, one percent genuine residents and voters of his seat signed the prescribed form in favour of him before submitting nomination paper but a section of influential people at the instruction of local MP Ali Asgar Tagore allegedly influenced the administration to cancel his nomination and despite genuine signature his nomination was cancelled illegally.
Nur Hakim further alleged that when he appealed (Appeal No 495/18) to Election Commission (EC) to restore his nomination , the ruling party men have been threatening to them not to come in Dhaka to appear at the hearing of EC . Particularly , Rakibul Islam and Ashraful Islam were kept under pressure and they said if Rakibul Islam and Ashraful Islam attend hearing of EC , they have to face consequence in future . Local elite said, in the meantime , an uneasy situation has been created in the area for the independent and other candidates. They urged the Election Commission and local administration to look into the matter for free and fair election .
